Today we left from Pin Oo Lwin to go back to Mandalay. The aim of our day was visiting Dattawgyaik waterfalls, which can be reached by walking for one and a half hour on a path through the woods. We first reached the panoramic viewpoint where you can see the waterfalls from on high, then we started our walk.

There were actually several paths which we could take to get there, but the one we chose was the less traveled by (it may look as if we want to be different no matter what…): indeed, on top of being beautiful, surrounded by trees and silence, it was full of shaky bridges. I was not very glad to cross such bridges, but it was the only way to get to the waterfalls, so I had to live with it. Coping with a lot of laughs, pictures and even videos of my Indiana Jones (or Bridget Jones) abilities, I managed not to fall into the crevice.

After passing the last bridge, we saw the waterfalls: they were wonderful and much bigger than we expected! We spent some time wandering thorugh the water (of course it is nice to provide documentary evidence of my lightness in walking on the wet rocks with shoes in my hands) taking pictures and looking at this peaceful place, where there was only us, plus a stupa and a guy selling drinks and snacks.

We climbed back to the starting point and we treated us on a very stylish lunch (compared to our usual meals), in a resort with a view on the waterfalls 🙂

And we went back “home” while looking a these exceptional colours..Perhaps the best sunset I saw since I am here…
