Mentre eravamo a Bangkok, i media occidentali davano notizie catastrofiche su un colpo di stato militare appena avvenuto in Thailandia, invitando i turisti a stare attenti, a non uscire se non necessario, ecc. <\/p>\n

While we were in Bangkok, western media reported tragic news on a military seizure of power which had just taken place in Thailand, and invited tourists to be careful, not go out if not strictly necessary, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n

In effetti a Bangkok c’era il coprifuoco dalle 21 in poi e c’erano parecchi presidi militari per strada e di fronte agli edifici governativi. Ma di fatto la citt\u00e0 era tranquillissima e l’atmosfera non sembrava tesa…In effetti abbiamo visto molti dei militari occuparsi placidamente di attivit\u00e0 varie come fare la spesa o giocare a carte \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n

In Bangkok there was actually a curfew from 9 pm onwards and there were several military units along the streets and in front of governmental buildings. But the city was really peaceful and the athmosphere did not seem to be that tense…Indeed, we saw many of the soldiers dealing calmly with everyday activities such us shopping or playing cards \ud83d\ude42<\/em><\/p>\n

Ovviamente non vogliamo sminuire la seriet\u00e0 della situazione politica del paese, che a quanto abbiamo capito \u00e8 abbastanza complessa e intricata…Ma certo non ci siamo sentiti in pericolo come ci si poteva aspettare leggendo le news di quei giorni. Anzi, il fatto che ci fossero poche persone in giro ci ha consentito di goderci meglio questa citt\u00e0 speciale. <\/p>\n

Of course we do not want to underestimate the gravity of the political situation in Thailand, which as far as we understood is quite complex and intricate…But, sure enough, we did not feel in danger as you could expect when reading news on those days. On the contrary, the fact that there were just a few people around allowed us to better enjoy this special city.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n
