Siamo arrivati a Chiang Mai dopo una notte in bus da Bangkok. Abbiamo girato un po’ per la citt\u00e0 silenziosa, all’alba, insieme ai monaci che a quell’ora passano per le strade con le loro pentole per raccogliere offerte di cibo. I templi qui sono molto particolari, e questo lo \u00e8 pi\u00f9 degli altri perch\u00e9 nel giardino ci sono varie statue assurde, compresa quella di Paperino! <\/p>\n

We arrived in Chiang Mai by taking a night bus from Bangkok. We explored the city at dawntime, everything was really quiet and the only people in the streets were some monks collecting food offers with their pots. Temples here are quite special, and this one is even more special than the others because its garden contains several strange statues, even a Donald Duck one!  <\/em><\/p>\n

Questa \u00e8 una stranissima casa\/negozio che raccoglie le creazioni di un’artista del posto: quadri, sculture, ma anche un giardino con uccellini e finestre con vista su stupe. <\/p>\n

This is a very strange house\/shop, where you can find the works of a local artist: paintings, sculptures, but also a garden with birds in it and a view on some stupas. <\/em><\/p>\n

Per strada la sera c’era questa festa religiosa con tantissima gente. C’era chi portava cesti di fiori e di frutta e chi con una carrucola mandava acqua in cima al tempio per “dare da bere a Buddha”. Una delle usanze \u00e8 girare intorno a un tavolo pieno di pentole nere e mettere una monetina in ognuna. L’abbiamo fatto anche noi, cercando di esprimere un po’ dei nostri desideri \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n

At night, streets were stuffed with people because of a religious celebration. Someone carried baskets filled with flowers or fruit, someone else sent water to the top of the temple by using a pulley, in order to “give Buddha something to drink”. One of the rituals is going around a table were several black pots are placed, and tossing a coin in each of them. We did it too, while trying to express some of our wishes \ud83d\ude42 <\/em><\/p>\n

Dovete sapere che la maggior parte delle notti abbiamo dormito nei posti pi\u00f9 economici (e a volte anche un filo fatiscenti). Ma qui a Chiang Mai abbiamo trovato per puro caso e per 10 dollari a testa questa bellissima guesthouse, che si chiama “Rustic”, ha l’acqua calda, i letti soffici e altri lussi, oltre a personale gentile e disponibile! Prima di partire per Chiang Rai, ci siamo fermati a lungo a parlare con il proprietario che ci ha detto un sacco di cose interessanti sulla Thailandia…<\/p>\n

We have to say that most nights we slept in the cheapest (and sometimes a bit crumbling) hostels. But here in Chiang Mai we found by chance (and for 10 dollars per person) this wonderful gueshouse, called “Rustic”, which has hot water, soft beds and other fancy things, on top of friendly and nice staff!Before heading to Chiang Rai, we spent a long time talking with the owner of the guesthouse, who told us all sorts of interesting things about Thailand… <\/em><\/p>\n
