Day 1 (Altavia 4) – Dolomiti – Moso -》 Locatelli -》 R. Auronzo (3.5h – 16km)

We started the trip in the town of Moso, hiking with our backpacks towards Tre Cime de Lavaredo passing Rifugio Locatelli and Rigugio Lavaredo on the way. The Tre Cime peaks stand at 2,999 meters high but seem even taller closer up because of their narrow shape. The view is a grand sight to see as we make our way through trails of changing scenery from green grass to rocky white and reflective lakes. Along the way, a group of Alpine Llamas passed by on the trail. They were cute with their little leather carrying bags. Apparently they can be rented. Getting near our final destination for the night to sleep in Rifugio Auronzo, we watched the sun setting slowly making the surrounding mountains into blues and purples. At the rifugio, a dinner of vegetable soup, pork, fried potatoes and a chocolate cake was waiting for us.
